DNS Server Changes
Secondary DNS server changes to improve network reliability
On Monday, July 6th, TownNews.com will move our secondary domain name services server from our Chicago data center to our facility in New York.
This change to our data center structure facilitates further redundancy for DNS services by geographically separating the primary and secondary servers. DNS is the service that translates domain names to IP addresses for services such as web, e-mail, and ftp.
This additional layer of redundancy adds another layer of protection to this critical service by geographically separating the primary and secondary servers.
The transition is planned to prevent any service outage. Additionally, only domains for which TownNews.com manages and hosts DNS services will be affected. This notice is simply to communicate these changes; TownNews.com customers are not required to make any changes to their site or services.
